Our focus for 8th Grade Social Studies is United States History & Geography (quite possibly my favorite thing in the whole world).
We will also look particularly at North Carolina as we move through the historical events of our nation.
We will also learn what it means to be a productive citizen of the United States, US Citizenship Practice Test.
One of the fun things we will do is look at interesting things that happened on This Day in History.
We will read interesting articles on ReadWorks.
We will watch videos and take notes using EDpuzzle.
We will also study Geography.
We will learn about NC History as we move through the year as well.
We will look at what was going on in America Prior to European Exploration.
We will explore Colonial America.
We will learn about the American Revolutionary War.
We will learn about the establishment of A New Nation.
We will see the changes in geography and culture as America Grows.
We will also look at how the young United States became A Nation Divided over the evil of African slavery.
We will continue our study through Reconstruction, into the 20th Century and up to modern day.
